    Travel Insurance and Financial Protection

The group travel insurance included on every BTC trip, BTC's business protections, and how to make a claim — clearly explained

    Last updated: October 2026

This page explains three distinct things, which must not be confused: (1) The group travel insurance included on every BTC trip — covers you personally for medical, baggage and travel risks; (2) BTC's statutory insolvency protection — protects your payments if BTC becomes insolvent; and (3) BTC's business civil-liability insurance — protects BTC's operations. The first is your personal cover. The other two are business protections.

Every Bougie Travel Club trip comes with group travel insurance included at no extra cost. You are covered from the moment you are on the road with us, for trips up to 15 consecutive days. Your insurance is provided by Europ Assistance S.A. (Spanish Branch), brokered through Grupo Innovac under the product name INNOVAC GRUPOS INCLUSIÓN. Europ Assistance is registered with Spain's General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP) under registration number E0243.

Medical expenses abroad (illness or accident, including COVID-19): up to €3,000. Medical expenses within Spain: up to €1,000. Extended hotel stay due to illness or accident: up to €500. Companion's hotel stay if you are hospitalized: up to €500. Lost, damaged, or stolen checked luggage: up to €200. Professional civil liability: up to €60,000. Also included at no extra cost: emergency return home (home incident, hospitalization or death of a direct family member), medical evacuation and repatriation of remains, a travel companion flown in if you are hospitalized abroad, forgotten medication assistance, luggage search and location service, and 24-hour telephone, video and chat medical orientation. Coverage area: worldwide, for trips up to 15 consecutive days. Amateur, non-competitive recreational activities are covered — including hiking. Professional or high-risk sports are not.

To keep your expectations clear, here is what falls outside this policy: pre-existing or chronic conditions that were present before the trip began; pandemics or epidemics (note: COVID-19 is treated as a standard illness and is covered); mental health conditions, preventive check-ups, cosmetic surgery, physiotherapy, or alternative medicine; pregnancy beyond the 6th month (urgent care before month 6 is covered); acts of war, terrorism, civil unrest, natural disasters, or earthquakes; and travel to Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, Crimea, or the conflict zones of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

Your policy can be cancelled before your trip's start date for a full refund. For trips exceeding 30 days, you also have the right to cancel within the first 14 days of the policy start date.

If something goes wrong during your trip, here is what to do. For a medical emergency or on-trip assistance, call the 24-hour line: 902 117 543 from Spain, or +34 91 514 99 60 from abroad. Have your policy number, full name, location, and contact number ready. For luggage, delays, or reimbursement claims, visit https://innovac.eclaims.europ-assistance.com — register, submit your claim, and track its status online. Important: all incidents must be reported within 7 days of occurrence. Keep all receipts and invoices — you will need them for reimbursement.

If you are not satisfied with how a claim was handled, email reclamaciones@europ-assistance.es or write to Servicio de Reclamaciones, Paseo de la Castellana 130, 28046 Madrid, Spain. Unresolved complaints can be escalated to Spain's Dirección General de Seguros y Fondos de Pensiones.

BTC maintains insolvency protection as required by the EU Package Travel Directive (Directive (EU) 2015/2302) and Spanish law. In the event of BTC's insolvency, this guarantee covers the refund of payments you have made and, if travel has already commenced, your repatriation. This is a business protection and is separate from your personal travel insurance.

BTC maintains professional civil-liability insurance for its business operations. This coverage protects BTC's operations and is separate from, and not a substitute for, the group travel insurance included on your trip.

If you are a resident of an EU member state, your EHIC or GHIC entitles you to state-provided healthcare in Spain and other EU destinations at the same cost as a local resident. The EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance — it does not cover private medical care, medical repatriation, or trip cancellation. Always carry both.

Pre-existing or chronic conditions are not covered under the included group policy. If you have an ongoing health condition, we recommend reviewing the full policy terms before booking and considering supplemental private coverage if needed. Please disclose any pre-existing condition at the time of booking so we can advise you.

This insurance contract is governed by Spanish law. Jurisdiction falls to the courts of the insured's habitual place of residence.
